How to increase your sex drive

 In Wellness

There’s been several women that have reached out to me recently to say that they’re struggling with having a regular/high sex drive/libido and they’re looking for ways to change this.

Well, there are sooo many reasons why our sex drive can be affected.

1. Here’s several things to consider and ask yourself –

How’s your diet?
Highly processed foods, carbs, sugars, and dairy all can reduce sex drive.

Do you move your body/exercise often, or is your energy rather stagnant?
If your energy is stagnant you won’t have as much energy flowing through you, so it’s hard to get “in the mood”.

How’s your sleep?
If you’re not sleeping properly, your libido can greatly be affected.

Do you feel satisfaction, happiness, and inspiration in your every day life?
If you feel blah with life, have a negative mindset, and/or lack inspiration, that will also affect your sex drive.

Are you taking the birth control pill?
The pill has hormones in it which alter your own hormone regularity and can cause so many hormone imbalances and other side effects. I recommend using FAM, (fertility awareness method), instead of synthetic birth control methods.

Are you taking other medications?
Other medications, especially anti-depressants, can affect libido greatly.

2. As far as actual natural remedies go –

Maca:
Maca is a type of cruciferous root vegetable native to Peru. It’s considered an adaptogen, (which helps the body naturally adapt to stressors). Maca also has many micronutrients, is full of antioxidants, (protects the body from damage caused by toxins), and has been shown to improve sexual health, balance hormone levels, increase fertility, and improve energy, memory, and mood.
I prefer the powdered form and then make fun hot tonics with it, but I’ve heard several people don’t care for the taste of it, so if you prefer, you can also get capsules.

Raw Cacao, (not cocoa):
Raw cacao is the purest form of chocolate you can consume, which means it’s raw and is much less processed than cocoa powder or typical chocolate candy. Cacao is thought to be one of the highest sources of antioxidants, and is also one of the highest sources of magnesium, (helps increase energy, reduces anxiety, aids in digestion and more).
So, some of the benefits of cacao are that it’s a natural aphrodisiac, (increases libido when consumed), boosts your energy and mood, provides antioxidants and minerals, protects against toxins, and improves cardiovascular health.
I get mine from Raw Revelations. (I love to mix cacao + maca in my hot tonics, and will post a recipe below).

Rhodiola:
Rhodiola is an herb, also an adaptogen. Some of it’s benefits are that it helps to increase stamina, boosts energy, (and red blood cell count), decreases fatigue, lowers cortisol, (stress hormone), decreases depression, and improves brain function.
I recommend it in the form of capsules.

If you decide to try any of these and your libido still doesn’t improve, then I would recommend getting your hormone levels tested, by getting a full hormone blood panel done. If certain hormone(s) are too high or too low you can then take superfoods, herbs, etc., that can help balance them out.
(Also, a disclaimer, if you’re pregnant, on any medications, or just are unsure about taking these, please contact your doctor/medical professional before taking them).

Here’s a simple recipe you can make that makes ~ 1 serving:

1 tsp maca
1 TBSP cacao
1 TBSP coconut butter OR coconut oil
1 pitted date OR 3-5 drops of liquid stevia, (add more or less for sweetness)
1/4 cup plant-based milk
1 cup water
few dashes of cinnamon

I prefer to heat up the water, then put all the ingredients in a blender so it’s well mixed, and then drink warm.
If you prefer, you could blend it all up, add some ice, and drink it cold too.

3. Some deeper questions and reflections, (and this one I’ve found to be the most transformational) –

How’s your connection to yourself; your body love, self love, self pleasure, and feminine power?

I highly recommend having a regular self pleasure practice, using a yoni egg and/or wand, and also doing sensual body practices such as self breast massage, full body massage, sensual dance, bath, mirror work, etc.

When we are turned on by and with ourselves, we can get turned on with our partner and life much easier too! 😉💦

I hope these tips help you to increase your libido! ☺️

Feel free to ask any questions below or contact me if you want to chat about this further! 💕
